Southern Living Names Elliott’s BBQ Lounge among best in the South

For the first time since 2023, Southern Living has updated it’s list of the 50 ebst BBQ joints in the South, and this year, they named Elliott’s as number 36!

“South Carolina gained an impressive new whole hog operation this year when Elliott Moss opened Elliott’s BBQ Lounge inside Seminar Brewing just north of downtown Florence. Moss came to barbecue fame as the founding pitmaster/chef at the acclaimed Buxton Hall BBQ in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, before moving back to his hometown to create his unique BBQ lounge. It’s a fitting term, for the sprawling building contains a full bar with Seminar beer on tap and plenty of cocktails, and one corner is given over to a game room with pool tables and a row of pinball machines. The real magic happens in the gleaming new cookhouse Moss constructed beside the brewery, where he fires custom-made open brick pits with pecan wood burned down to coals in a gigantic burn barrel. Those pits produce everything from direct heat-cooked baby backs to smoked salmon, but the star of the show is the Pee Dee-style chopped whole hog, which is tender, juicy, and infused with mellow smoke.”
